Would Taiwan Be Threatened By Serial Killers?

Examining Taiwan’s Potential Security Problems

Thesis: The purpose of this paper is to first examine why Chen Jin-Sing (陳進興) cannot be grouped as a serial killer, and further discuss the contemporary security condition of Taiwan as well as methods to prevent dangers.

Outline

. There are several famous serial killers in American history, but is there any such monster in Taiwan? Though Chen Jin-Sing is one of the most notorious killers, actually he cannot be qualified as a serial killer.

. According to FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), serial killers should have certain mutual features.

. Compare and contrast with one of the typical serial killers in America, Chen Jin-Sing is not parallel.

A. Edmund Emil Kemper

a. During childhood, Edmund takes his mother’s hatred towards him and lives unhappily.

b. Edmund suffers from serious psychopathic problems and dual personality.

c. Edmund’s cruel killing course meets most of the serial killers’.

B. Chen Jin-Sing

a. Though Chen’s parents divorce when he is a child, he does not suffer from abuse and lives normally.

b. Chen does not have psychopathic problems.

c. In terms of how and why he kills, Chen is different from those serial killers.

. So far, there is no serial killer appears in Taiwan, but it does not really mean there would not emerge one in the future. There are actually several potential dangers existing in our society.

. Before tragedies happen, the government as well as citizens should take actions to prevent them.

A. From psychological perspective, there are some clear warning signs to tell whether people around us have any problem.

B. More concerns should be put among people since the indifference cannot bring any benefit.
